The Mustang Varsity basketball team took home the 2nd place trophy this week at the Avery Air Invitational hosted by Plano Senior High School. After wins verse North Mesquite, #11 ranked Highland Park, and Rowlett; the Mustangs lost a thrilling 1-point game to Dallas Jesuit on Thursday night in the championship game. The Mustangs were led by all-tournament selections Stephen Buckner and Aaron Brown. Also, senior Justin Cueto was awarded a $500 college scholarship by Avery Air for academic excellence.

Trailing by 7 points with less than 2 minutes left, the Mustangs made a tremendous comeback tying the game with 8 seconds left but only to see their efforts squashed by a 30 foot bomb hit nothing but net as time expired. The Mustangs were led by Justin Cueto 18, Stephen Buckner 10, and Aaron Brown with 9.
