Creekview defeats North Mesquite

The Creekview boys’ basketball team concluded the Plano Tournament with an outstanding defensive effort resulting in a 49-36 victory. Leading scorers were Destin Ogueri with 13 points and Ali Zia with 12 points. The Mustang record is now 9-10. All three boys basketball teams continue district play at home against Mesquite Poteet on Thursday, January 3rd. The freshman game begins at 5:30 in the small gym, while the JV plays at 5:30 in the big gym followed by the varsity at 7:00.

Second Round Results of the Plano Tournament

It was another heart stopper today in the Plano Tournament for the Creekview Mustangs. Playing against a highly ranked Southeast Oklahoma City team, the Mustangs battled to a second straight overtime game. Unfortunately, Creekview lost by a score of 67-64. Leading scorers for the Mustangs were Ian Spaight with 18, Desmond Funches with 12, and Ali Zia with 10. Creekview concludes the tournament tomorrow at 11:00 at Plano West Senior High against the loser of a game between North Mesquite and Flower Mound Marcus. The Mustang overall record is now 8-10.

Mustangs Take Host School Plano to Overtime but Come up Short

The Creekview varsity boys’ basketball team battled the host school Plano in the Plano Tournament this afternoon. It has a hard fought game as both teams took leads throughout. The game eventually went to overtime with Creekview falling up short by a score of 54-49. Leading scorer for the Mustangs was Ian Spaight with 15 points. Creekview will battle Southeast Oklahoma City tomorrow at 11 at Plano West Senior High. The Mustang record is now 8-9.

The Creekview varsity boys' basketball team will compete in the Plano Tournament today, December 27th through Saturday December 29th. The Mustangs will play the host school Plano at 5:00 tonight.

Mustangs Sweep Forney

It was another great night for the Creekview Mustangs boys’ basketball team as all three teams beat Forney in the District 10-4A opener. In the varsity game, the Mustangs led throughout in a 63-50 win. Leading scorers were Alex Rincon with 21 points and Ali Zia with 19 points. Creekview’s overall record is now 8-8 and 1-0 in district. In the JV game, the Mustangs held on for a 63-60 victory. Leading scorers were Desmond Funches with 15 points, Zuri Davis with 12, and Patrick Wood with 11. The JV record is 7-5 and 1-0 in district. The freshmen Mustangs started strong and never looked back in a 74-25 win. Leading scorers were Keimone Davis with 17 points and Jarmez Zuber with 16. The freshmen record is now 5-5 and 1-0 in district. All three teams are off for 5 days for the holiday break. The varsity will resume competition on December 27-29 at the Plano Tournament. All three teams will resume district play on January 3rd at home vs. Mesquite Poteet.

The Creekview Mustangs open district play this afternoon with games at Forney. The freshman game starts at 3:00 in the auxilary gym. The JV starts at 3:00 in the main gym followed by the varsity at 4:30.

Coaches vs. Cancer Night Results

It was a great night in Mustang gym tonight as all three boys’ basketball teams beat Prosper in the 5th Annual Coaches vs. Cancer Night. In the varsity game, the Mustangs pulled away in the 4th quarter and beat the Eagles 50-42. Leading scorers were Ranjit Mason with 17 points and Ali Zia with 15. The varsity record is now 7-8. The JV played a close game and also won the 4th quarter to win 45-38. Leading scorers was Peter Moseti with 21 points. The JV record is now 6-5. In the freshman game, Creekview won handily by a score of 51-34. Leading scorers were Brendan Arnold and Keimone Davis with 17 points and Jarmez Zuber with 11 points. The freshman record is now 4-5. All three teams begin district play next Friday at Forney.

Coaches vs. Cancer Night

Please come out to support our boys’ basketball teams tomorrow night and help fight cancer in the 5th Annual Coaches’ vs. Cancer game against Prosper. All donations from the game will go directly to the American Cancer Society in the fight to stop the disease that has affected so many of us. Players, cheerleaders, and coaching staffs will wear pink to signify their support, and both coaching staffs will wear tennis shoes to join thousands of coaches nationwide as a universal sign in the fight against cancer. The freshman game will start at 5:30 in the small gym. The JV game will start at 6:00 in the big gym followed by the varsity at 7:30.

Results at Frisco Heritage

The Creekview Mustangs varsity basketball team couldn’t withstand a substantial 2nd quarter run by Frisco Heritage and lost to the Coyotes 74-56. Leading scorers for the Mustangs were Alex Rincon with 17 points and Ali Zia with 15. The varsity record is now 6-8. In the JV game, a strong second half comeback bid fell short as the Mustangs lost to Frisco Heritage 41-36 bringing their record to 5-5. The leading scorer was Desmond Funches with 22pts. In the freshman game, Creekview was victorious by a score of 62-52. Leading scorers for the Mustangs were Brendan Arnold with 19 points, Carson Hudspeth with 13 and Keimone Davis with 12. The freshman record stands at 2-5. All three boys’ teams will play at home vs. Prosper in the 5th Annual Coaches vs. Cancer game. All donations from the game will benefit the Jimmy V Foundation and the American Cancer Society.

Varsity results vs. Ranchview

It was a frustrating night for the Creekview Varsity Boys’ basketball team as a red-hot shooting Ranchview team beat the Mustangs 66-56. Creekview kept battling the whole night, but the Wolves continuously hit big shot after big shot to thwart the rally. Leading scorers for the Mustangs were Ali Zia with 17 points and Ian Spaight with 12. The Creekview varsity record is now 6-7. The Mustangs will be in action next Tuesday night at Frisco Heritage.

Thursday Results from 9/JV Creekview Classic Tournament

In the first round of the Creekview 9/JV Classic Tournament, the JV Mustangs beat Plano Vines by a score of 43-32. Leading scorers were Peter Moseti with 16 points and Desmond Funches with 10. The Mustangs automatically advance to the championship game on Saturday at 6:00. The JV record is now 5-3. In the freshman first round game, Creekview came up short to Plano Vines by a score of 41-28. Leading scorer was Keimone Davis with 14 points. The freshman Mustangs will play in the consolation championship Saturday at 11:30 Saturday. The freshman record is now 1-4. The Creekview Classic will continue tomorrow with second round games.

Creekview Classic Starts Today

The 9th/JV Creekview Classic Tournament is today through Saturday. This is a fundraiser for the Creekview basketball program, so please come out to help and/ or support our Mustangs. All games today and tomorrow will be at Creekview, while all Saturday games will be at Blalack Middle School. The Creekview 9th grade team will play today at 7:00 in the small gym, while the JV will play at 8:15 in the big gym.

Mustangs win in overtime

The Creekview varsity boys’ basketball team had to work overtime to seal a victory at Wiley this evening. With 4 seconds left in regulation, Ali Zia made 2 clutch free throws to send the game in to overtime. From there, a bucket from Ranjit Mason along with two free throws by Dylan Kittrell pushed the lead to three. A desperation shot from a Wiley player to tie the game circled the rim and fell out to give the Mustangs the victory. Leading scorers were Mason with 20 points and Zia with 16. The varsity record is now 6-6. In the JV game, the Mustangs also needed an extra 4 minutes to win. Jordan Funches hit a 3 pointer with .6 seconds left in overtime for the win. Leading scorers were Funches with 20 and Peter Moseti with 12. The Creekview JV record is now 4-3. In the freshman game, Creekview lost a tough one 55-45. Leading scorers were Brendan Arnold with 18 points and Keimone Davis with 16. The freshman record is now 1-3. The Freshman and JV will compete in the Creekview Classic Tournament this Thursday-Saturday while the varsity will play at Ranchview Friday at 7:30.

Results from Saturday of CFBISD Classic

The Creekview Mustang varsity boys’ basketball team concluded the CFBISD Classic with a win over Dallas Samuell at Newman Smith High School. All team members contributed to the 55-29 victory. Leading scorer for the Mustangs was Alex Rincon with 12 points. Creekview’s record is now 5-6. All three Mustang teams play at Wylie Tuesday night. The freshman game starts at 5:30 in the auxiliary gym. The JV starts at 6:00 in the main gym followed by the varsity at 7:30.

Second Round Results of CFBISD Classic

Last night in the second round of the CFBISD Classic, Creekview got off to a slow start against the 10th ranked 5A team in the state, Hebron, and couldn’t recover despite outscoring the Hawks in the second half. The final score was 73-51. Leading scorers for the Mustangs were Dylan Kittrell with 13 points and Ian Spaight with 12. Creekview’s record is now 4-6. The Mustangs conclude the tournament today at Newman Smith versus Dallas Samuell at 1:30.

Mustangs win at the buzzer!

It was a wild night at Mustang gym tonight as Creekview battled back from a double digit deficit to beat W.T.White on a buzzer beater 59-57. Ranjit Mason rebounded a missed shot and hit a fall-away jumper as time expired to give the Mustangs the victory. It was a total team effort at the end as big shots were hit by Ian Spaight and Dylan Kittrell to get Creekview back in it. Leading scorer for the Mustangs was Destin Ogueri with 13 points. The Creekview record is now 4-5. The Mustangs battle Hebron tomorrow night at 8:00 at home in the second round.

Results vs. RL Turner

It was an outstanding night for the Creekview Mustangs Boys’ Basketball teams as all three teams had convincing victories at home against RL Turner. In the varsity game, the Mustangs got off to a great start and never looked back in a 76-39 win. Leading scorers for Creekview were Destin Ogueri with 14 points and Ian Spaight with 12. The varsity record is now 3-5. In the JV game, the Mustangs turned it on in the second half and won 46-30. Leading scorers were Zuri Davis with 14 points and Peter Moseti with 13. The JV record now stands at 2-1. In the freshman game, Creekview rolled to its first victory of the year 70-13. Leading scorers were Reynel Previllon with 20 points and Brendan Arnold with 18. The freshman record is now 1-2. The varsity will compete in the CFBISD Tournament starting at home on Thursday, while the JV will compete in The Colony Tournament starting on Thursday. The freshman team is off until next Tuesday at Wylie.

Results vs. The Colony

All three Creekview boys basketball teams played at The Colony tonight. In varsity action, the Mustangs got down early in the first quarter and could not get over the hump in a 73-58 loss. Leading scorers for Creekview were Ali Zia with 15 pts., Dylan Kittrell with 14, and Ranjit Mason with 10. The Mustang record is now 2-5. The JV team lost to The Colony 56-27. Leading scorer was Peter Moseti with 9 points. The JV record is now 1-1. In Freshmen action, Creekview battled back but came up just short in a 63-59 loss. Leading scorers were Eddie Cecena and Keimone Davis. The freshman record now stands at 0-2. All three teams are back in action at home versus RL Turner on Tuesday, November 27th.

Conclusion to the Ponder Tournament

In the conclusion of the Ponder Tournament, the Creekview Boys Basketball team played two good games on Saturday and continued to make positive strides in turning around a tough opening to the season. Against a varsity caliber North Crowley JV team, the Mustangs put together a strong 4th quarter charge and won 60-51. Leading scorers for Creekview were Ali Zia with 25 points and Alex Rincon with 14. In the nightcap, the Mustangs mounted a furious 4th quarter rally and just came up short against an undefeated Argyle Liberty Christian team 47-46. Leading scorers for Creekview were Ali Zia with 10 points and Austin Reynolds with 9. The Mustang record is now 2-4. Creekview next travels to The Colony on Tuesday.

Mustangs Get First Win of the Season!

After a slow start to the Ponder Tournament on Thursday with losses against two tough teams, the Creekview Mustangs basketball team battled to its first victory of the season tonight. Trailing 34-29 entering the 4th quarter, the Mustangs outscored Ft. Worth Christian 31-10 in the quarter for a 60-44 victory. It was a total team effort as Creekview drew 6 charges in the game and played outstanding team defense. Leading scorers for the Mustangs were Ali Zia with 19 pts. and DeAndre Abram with 12. Creekview concludes the tournament tomorrow with games at 11:30 and 5:30. The Mustang varsity record is now 1-3.

Ponder Tournament Today-Saturday

The varsity will compete in the Ponder Tournament today (Thursday)- Saturday. The tournament is a round-robin format with the Mustangs playing 5 games. On Thursday, Creekview will play Lubbock Trinity Christian at 4:00 and Ponder at 8:00. On Friday, the Mustangs play Fort Worth Christian at 5:30. Saturday is also a double-header with Creekview playing North Crowley JV at 11:30 and Argyle Liberty Christian at 5:30.

Season Opening Results

The Creekview Boys opened the 2012-2013 basketball season with a hard fought 58-49 loss against visiting Little Elm. The Mustangs battled all night, but just couldn’t get over the hump for the victory. Ali Zia led the way for the Creekview with 21 points. Alex Rincon finished with 7. The Mustangs are 0-1 on the season. The varsity will have a quick turnaround with a weekend trip to the Ponder Tournament starting on Thursday. In other Mustang action, the JV defeated Little Elm in dominating style by a score of 63-30 to start the year 1-0. The leading scorers where Peter Moseti with 19 pts. and Desmond Funches with 12. The freshmen team had a valiant comeback but came up short to Little Elm by a score of 70-61. Both the JV and freshmen will continue their season on November 20th at The Colony.

The real season gets under way next Wednesday, October 24th! Freshmen will start at 6:45am and JV/Varsity will practice during 4th period and again from 5-7pm. The coaching staff encourages players to get plenty of rest, to eat right, and drink an abundance of water. Go MUSTANGS!!!

Berkner Shootout this Saturday

The varsity will compete in the Berkner Shootout this Saturday, October 13th. The Mustangs will play Richardson Pearce at 4:00, Prosper at 6:00, and ESD at 8:00. The Berkner High School address is 1600 E. Spring Valley Rd. Richardson, TX 75081. Please come out and support the Mustangs in this final shootout before the seson begins.

Parent Meeting

Parents, the coaching staff sent home important documents to review from the boys' basketball parent meeting. Please take the time to review these and keep throughout the season. The schedule for the varsity shootout this Saturday the 29th in Southlake is out. The first game will be against Frisco Centennial at 2:00 pm at Carroll High School. The address is 800 N. White Chapel Rd. in Southlake. The next game will be at 6:00 pm vs. Tyler Lee at Carroll Senior High School. The address is 1501 W. Southlake Blvd. The final game of the day will be at 8:00pm against Abilen Wylie back at Carroll High School. Please come out to support the Mustangs!

Successful Shootout

It was an extremely successful shootout this past Saturday for the Creekview Basketball Program. Both teams played well and the varsity went 2-0 with wins over Royse City and a very good team from Abilene Wylie. In addition, the concessions from the shootout raised money for CMSA and boys' basketball. The next shootout will be varsity only at Southlake on September 29th. The varsity team would also like to dedicate their victories to the memory of Kiet Nguyen.

Shootout Tomorrow and Honoring Kiet

The JV/ Varsity Shootout tomorrow at Creekview is still on. However, due to the tragic loss of senior varsity football player Kiet Nguyen, we have decided to cancel the first games for both teams. The varsity will now play at 4:00 against Royse City and at 7:00 against Abilene Wylie. The JV will play at 5:00 against Frisco Lone Star and at 8:00 against Byron Nelson. The varsity football game begins at 11:00am. Please try to be there to support the team and honor their fallen teammate. We are all Mustangs and will always love and miss Kiet.

Shootout this Saturday

Our JV/Varsity Shootout is this Saturday from noon to 9:00 pm. Both the JV and Varsity teams will play three games. This is also a fundraiser for the basketball program. Please sign-up with Steve Romaine or Coach Tippett to work the concession stand to help support Creekview Basketball. All players are bringing home a waiver that must be signed and returned prior to Saturday.

School year almost here!!!

With less than a week to go before school starts, please make sure all athletes trying out for basketball this year get a physical before the first day. Tryouts will not be the first day, so athletic workout attire is not required until the second day of school. Tryouts will be the first week. The coaching staff can't wait to begin an outstanding year!!!

The Mustangs officially clinched a playoff birth Tuesday night by defeating Newman Smith on the road by a final score of 71 to 54. Trailing by 4 at the half, the hot shooting of Justin Cueto (5 made 3-pointers) and toughness of Aaron Brown (21 points, 15 rebounds) propelled the Mustangs to a dominating 2nd half outscoring the Trojans 47 to 26.

The Mustangs won their 6th straight district game Tuesday night defeating the Wolverines by a final score of 66 to 59 in overtime. Trailing by 2 with only 6 seconds left, Ali Zia would drive coast to coast for the game tying lay-up as the regulation buzzer sounded. In overtime, the Mustangs were led by Aaron Brown and Stephen Buckner scoring all 12 overtime points from the free-throw line.

1/24 - Mustangs vs. RLT...

Varsity:

Leading Scorers: Chris Weatherd 12, Adam Guay 10, Aaron Brown 8

The Mustangs won their 4th straight game Tuesday night defeating the Lions by a final score of 56 to 30. Creekview’s frontcourt of Brown, Weatherd, Guay, and Thompson combined for 32 points to lead the way.


Junior Varsity:

Record: 14-7, 7-1

The Mustangs were led by Ranjitt Mason with 14 and Jamal Jones with 8. The Jr.Varsity is 14-7 overall and 7-1 in district.

Freshman:

The whole Mustang squad (12 players) scored, led by Naushad Lalani with 12 points.

Coaches' vs. Cancer Game

Friday night is a special night for the boys’ and girls’ basketball programs as they will be hosting Frisco Liberty in our 4th Annual Coaches vs. Cancer basketball game. Not only will your Mustangs be defeating the Redhawks on the court, but they will be raising money all night to help defeat a terrible disease that has affected so many of us. Mustangs move into 1st Place...

Varsity:

The Mustangs handed the Titans their first district loss on Friday night at Centennial HS. With the win, the Mustangs are now tied for 1st place as the first round of district play is completed.

1/17/12 - Mustangs vs. Heritage Results...

Varsity:

62 – CHS
61 – Heritage

Record: 15-11, 5-1

Leading Scorers: Justin Cueto 22, Stephen Buckner 17, Aaron Brown 10

The Mustangs hung on to win a close district battle against Frisco Heritage on Tuesday night, 62-61. After leading the whole game, the Coyotes made a strong push in the 2nd half to take a 1-point lead with just 3 minutes remaining. But, the Mustangs would score the next 6 points and hold on for the victory.

The Mustangs erased an early 11-point deficit only to watch the Frisco Raccoons come out on top in overtime. Stephen Buckner scored a career-high 36 points to lead the comeback.

Another Sweep! All 3 teams defeat Frisco Wakeland...

Varsity:

64 – CHS

61 – Wakeland

The Mustangs continued their hot district start by defeating Frisco Wakeland Friday night by a 64 to 61 score. The Mustangs jumped out to an early lead only to see the Wolverines tie the game going into the 4th quarter. A free-throw by Justin Cueto with 40 seconds to put the Mustangs up 1 was followed by a great defensive steal by Ali Zia. Ali was then fouled and made the two double-bonus free-throws to extend the lead to 3. Wakeland would have a desperation 3-point shot at the buzzer miss to the left giving Creekview the hard fought victory.


Junior Varsity:

52 – CHS

40 – Wakeland

Record: 10-6, 3-0

The Jr.Varsity Mustangs get a district win tonight against the Wakeland Wolverines 52-40.

The Mustangs where lead by Ranjitt Mason with 12, Will Romaine 12 and Destin Ogueri with 16.

The Mustangs continued district play tonight defeating the Frisco Liberty Redhawks 58 to 38 on the road. The Mustangs used strong defense all four periods to increase their lead to double-digits in the 4th quarter. Seven players scored, led by senior point guard Stephen Buckner with 19.
