The Mustangs continued district play tonight defeating the Frisco Liberty Redhawks 58 to 38 on the road. The Mustangs used strong defense all four periods to increase their lead to double-digits in the 4th quarter. Seven players scored, led by senior point guard Stephen Buckner with 19.

2nd Place - Avery Air Invitational

The Mustang Varsity basketball team took home the 2nd place trophy this week at the Avery Air Invitational hosted by Plano Senior High School. After wins verse North Mesquite, #11 ranked Highland Park, and Rowlett; the Mustangs lost a thrilling 1-point game to Dallas Jesuit on Thursday night in the championship game. The Mustangs were led by all-tournament selections Stephen Buckner and Aaron Brown. Also, senior Justin Cueto was awarded a $500 college scholarship by Avery Air for academic excellence.

*Trey Mohair for Denton Ryan hit the game winning 3-pointer at the buzzer to take down the Mustangs on Tuesday afternoon. Trailing by 7 points with less than 2 minutes left, the Mustangs made a tremendous comeback tying the game with 8 seconds left but only to see their efforts squashed by a 30 foot bomb hit nothing but net as time expired. The Mustangs were led by Justin Cueto 18, Stephen Buckner 10, and Aaron Brown with 9.
