It was an unbelievable night at Creekview gym tonight as the
varsity Mustangs and rival Newman Smith battled in a classic game for the ages.
Down 5 with 15 seconds left, DeAndre Abram made two three pointers, including a
bank-in at the buzzer, to give Creekview the 46-45 victory. Bedlam ensued as
the crowd erupted and the team mobbed Abram. It was an all-around team effort
from the Mustangs, especially on the defensive end. Abram finished with 20
points on the night. Also scoring in double digits for Creekview was Desmond Funches with 13 points. The Mustang
record improves to 11-8 overall and 4-1 in district play.
In the
JV game, the Mustangs took sole possession of first place in district with a
come from behind 62-55 win. Scoring in double figures were Cameron Ardoin with
13, Nate Bady with 12, and Dorian Stratford and Zavier Ramirez with 10 each.
The JV record improves to 14-5 overall and 4-0 in district.
In the
freshman game, the Mustangs completed the sweep with a 36-11 victory. D’Emrik Bradford-Thomas
and John Hughes led the freshmen in scoring with 14 and 13 points respectively.
The freshmen are 8-7 overall and 4-1 in district play. The JV and varsity
continue district play at Dallas Conrad on Tuesday.
